CPR Training and You

Should I getCPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) training?

Every year, thousandsout-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur – when the heart stops beating, many happen at home. Most people who havecardiac arrest die before they reach the hospital – but providing CPR greatly increases their chances of surviving. Unfortunately, few people who have cardiac arrest outside of the hospital setting get CPR. If you know CPR, you can help save a life.

You may not want to perform CPR because you are afraid of or uncomfortable with performing rescue breathing. The American Heart Association (AHA) has found that chest compression only resuscitation works as well as chest compressions with rescue breathing. The AHA recommends about 100 chest compressions a minute.
