National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) -- Asthma About this site: As part of the National Institutes of Health, the NHLBI is a great resource for asthma prevention tips and the latest treatment methods. If you can't find the information you need online, or you want to order multiple copies of a publication, try the NHLBI Information Center. Also, doctors can check out the updated guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of asthma. (http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/public/lung/index.htm) Pluses: There are -- or soon will be -- Spanish versions of many publications. Minuses: Information is often presented in brochure format -- you'll need to download Acrobat Reader to view much of it. Best feature: You can print out a thorough checklist to assess how well your child's school or daycare handles asthma cases. |
